Man! Talk about a sabbatical!

The great news is business has been good and we’ve got so much going on I haven’t had too much time to update the site. That’s going to change going forward. So here’s the lowdown!

Putting the FINAL touches on the Wylde studio. Zakk has been referring to our masterpiece as the Black Label Bunker but I kind of like The Womb of Doom. Ideas will be conceived here. And then nourished until some kick ass BLS tunes are born! Under The Wire is definitely honored and proud to have been a part of all of this. We hope to have the final pics posted within the next couple of weeks so stay tuned!

Under The Wire has also been chosen to provide all engineering, design and installation services to Saatchi & Saatchi LA, one of the largest advertising agencies in the world and well known for their campaigns on Toyota’s Prius and Yaris model vehicles. We recently refurbished their corporate boardroom with the latest and greatest in automation technology. Another extremely satisfied customer!

And last but not least, Under The Wire is about to complete a major rewire of a large broadcast facility in the Los Angeles area. This project was definitely a beast and has kept us busy for the last month or so. Looking forward to the end results!

Under The Wire is looking forward to many other exciting projects for 2010 and we’ll keep you posted!

Here is installment #1 of Under The Wire’s photo diary of the installation of Zakk Wylde’s recording studio. Get an up close and personal look at the Wylde Man’s studio as it takes shape. Complete with amp room, spacious control room, dedicated machine room, kitchen and lounge.

The studio will be completed and fully functional in time for Zakk and the band to record the next Black Label Society release, due out in 2010. Stay tuned for weekly updates!

I know that most of you installers and AV geeks use the HDMI output of your Blu-Ray players and not the analog outputs. However, it is important to note that the digital rights management and copy protection people are always working to limit the ability of individuals to copy protected material, which will ultimately affect the hardware we install and use on a day to day basis.  The next thing to happen in the copy protection battle is to kill the analog output. I don’t advocate copying any protected material nor do I advise on how one would go about copying protected material but as an integrator I know that having more outputs means having more options, the opposite being true for having less outputs.

Not having an analog HD output will limit our ability to distribute HD content to an analog only display, as well as limit our options when faced with design challenges. Much like the sunset of analog broadcasting, the sunset of analog output from the Blu Ray format will come to pass. As long as there are innovative manufacturers like Crestron and thoughtful integrators like us, no technical hurdle will be too high. It is, however worthy of noting what the industry is doing while you might not be paying attention!
