Automation
Home automation refers to the automation of household equipment and features in residential dwellings, particularly through electronic means, and most often in the form of a touch panel or keypad interface. By investing in a home automation system, rooms can be preset for appropriate lighting and temperature, taking into account the day of the week, the time of day, and other factors. Audio and video features can also easily be controlled eliminating the need for multiple remotes. Automation of lighting and other features of your home can be set to adjust whether you’re home or not! For instance, with the Vacation Scheduler feature, you can automate motorized shades to open and close, giving the appearance that your home is not vacant. You can control exterior and landscape lighting, accounting for daylight savings time so you do not have to worry about making adjustments twice a year. You can also check the status of, adjust, turn on/off controls through your PC, iPhone™, iPod Touch™, or any internet connection.
Crestron Green Light® technology provides environmental management and control to conserve energy and lower costs. This technology can monitor energy consumption in real-time as well as view historical usage. Real-time tracking allows a Crestron system to automatically dim lights or conserve power once you reach certain thresholds you have programmed into the system.
Commercial automation, also referred to as “building automation,” includes corporate settings and the automatic or semi-automatic control of lighting, audio, video conferencing equipment, temperature, shades and more. The techniques employed in home automation systems are also used in building automation. Many corporations are now implementing these techniques to save energy and resources without having to manually change configurations.
